Princeton, NJ – The Wagner College Seahawks dropped to 8-9 overall with a 7-4 loss to the Princeton University Tigers in Thursday night's non-league game at DeNunzio Pool.
Princeton jumped out to an early lead with two goals in the first period. The Tigers' defense was equally impressive - holding Wagner scoreless until the second quarter.
The Seahawks tacked on another score midway through the third period, but the Tigers' offense answered with two more goals to make the score 5-2.
Princeton held a three goal cushion entering the final period, but Wagner scored the first two goals of the fourth quarter to move within a goal with 3:16 left. Two late goals widened the final gap in Princeton's favor.
Wagner dropped to 8-9 overall with the loss. The Seahawks will begin their MAAC schedule on Saturday with two home contests at the Spiro Sports Center. The women will host St. Francis (NY) at 1:00 PM and Marist College at 5:30 PM.
