Pomona, NJ – The Wagner College Men's Track & Field team kicked off the 2009 outdoor season at the Richard Stockton Invitational on Saturday. Sophomore
Derek Schultz (Ocean Port, NJ/Shore Regional) and
James Johnston (Middle Island, NY/Longwood) both provided season-bests in their individual events.
Schultz finished the 200 meter dash in 23.36 and later took the team's top honors in the 400 meter dash with a 51.22 mark. Johnston finished the 800 meter dash in a season-best 2:01.75. From there, he took Wagner's top honors in the 1500 meter dash with a 4:11.14 mark.
Sophomore
Derek Rammelkamp (Miller Place, NY/Miller Place) and junior
Matt Villane (Monmouth Beach, NJ/Shore Regional) also provided strong outings for the Seahawks. Rammelkamp finished well in the 5000 meter run with a time of 15:46.75, while Villane's 56.71 finish in the 400 meter IH was his best this season.
Blake Lintelman (Coral Springs, FL/West Point Military Academy) excelled in the field events. His marks of 14.07 meters in the shot put and 37.68 meters in the discus throw were season-highs for the senior thrower.
