Men Impressive in 800 Meter Run

Three Seahawks finished well in the 800 meter run at the 2009 New Balance Collegiate Invitational held in New York, NY on Saturday. Among them were Kevin Kearney (Haddonfield, NJ/St. Joe's Prep), Colin MacDonald (Dix Hills, NY/Commack), and Brian Doxey (West Islip, NY/West Islip). MacDonald, a freshman, posted a career-best mark of 2:00.88, while sophomore Doxey and Kearney each finished at 2:00.98 and 1:59.72 respectively.

Kearney's time is his second-fastest finish this season. He currently holds the team's top spot with a 1:57.62 mark, which he record at the METS Invitational on January 29th. Doxey also registered his season-high at that event (2:00.08).

Derek Rammelkamp (Miller Place, NY/Miller Place) added his second-fastest time of the year with an 8:52.51 finish in the 3000 meter run. He finished 44th overall in the extremely competitive field.

Brian Halling (Amherst, NH/Souhegan) showcased his ability in the 1 mile run for the first time this season. He finished 41st overall with a time of 4:29.67. Halling's finish is the second-best team mark this season. Thomas Iannacone (Havertown, PA/St. Joe's Prep) is the team's leader in the event with a 4:22.78 finish at the METS Invitational.

Sprinters Matt Reidy (West Long Branch, NJ/Shore Regional) and Matthew Villane (Monmouth Beach, NJ/Shore Regional) excelled in the 400 meter dash. Reidy posted a season-best 52.96, while Villane answered with his second-best mark of season at 52.21. 

NOTES -  Both relay teams registered top-10 finishes in the Northeast Conference. The men's 4x400 meter relay finished with a season-best 3:23.78 mark. The time stands as the sixth-best in the Conference this season. The distance medley team added a 10:26.51 finish later on. That stands as the Conference's fourth-best time this winter.
