GAME NOTES

Moon Township, PA - The Wagner College men's basketball team (10-6, 2-3 NEC) will look to complete a sweep of its two-game Western Pennsylvania swing when the Seahawks meet defending NEC regular season champion Robert Morris (11-7, 6-1 NEC) on Saturday at 7:00 pm in the second game of a doubleheader.  At 4:00 pm, the Wagner women's team meets the Colonials in the first game. 

The Matchup
The Seahawks are coming off a 76-68 win on Thursday night behind the leadership of its senior quartet of seniors in guard Joey Mundweiler (Olathe, KS/ Olathe East) (17 points), point guard Justin Drummond (15 points), and forwards Jamal Smith (Baltimore, MD/ Towson Catholic) (14 points), and Llew Radford (Newport News, VA/ Heritage) (12.8). Robert Morris will be seeking its sixth consecutive win. The Colonials made it five straight on Thursday night with a homestanding 76-64 victory over Central Connecticut St. Robert Morris is 11-7 overall and sits atop the NEC standings with a 6-1 mark. The Colonials were led by senior guard Jeremy Chappel who averages a team-high 17.1 points per game and is coming off a 21-point outing vs. CCSU. Junior forward Rob Robinson checks in at 10.5 points per game while 5-11 junior guard Jimmy Langurst averages 10.1 points per outing.


The Coaches
Wagner College head coach Mike Deane is in his 25th season as a head coach and his sixth as the head man of the Seahawks. Deane holds an overall coaching mark of 426-299, having eclipsed the 400-win plateau last season. His 416 wins entering the season ranked him 27th among all active coaches. In his sixth season at Wagner, Deane is 82-78 on Grymes Hill. In 2007-08, Wagner delivered a memorable and milestone season, recording a 23-8 overall record and a 15-3 mark in the NEC, which was good for second place. The 23 wins set a school record for most wins in a season, besting the old mark of 21 wins accomplished on three occasions, 1967-68, 1978-79 and 2002-03. Mike Rice is in his second season at Robert Morris. In his first year as a head coach, Rice helped guide the Colonials to their first NEC regular-season championship and postseason appearance in 16 years, as RMU finished with a 16-2 mark in league play while advancing to the National Invitation Tournament (NIT) for the first time in the 32-year history of the program. Rice is a Pittsburgh, PA native and a 1991 Fordham graduate, Rice is a former assistant at Pittsburgh, Saint Joseph's (PA) and Marquette, where he worked under Mike Deane.
