Wagner will be gunning for its fifth consecutive win of the season when the Seahawks travel to Columbia to meet the Lions in the first of two contests vs. Ivy League foes this week as the Seahawks host Yale on Saturday. Wagner enters the contest with a mark of 4-1 while Columbia is off to a 2-4 start.
The Seahawks are also a perfect 2-0 on the road this season, defeating Stony Brook on Nov. 22 by a 65-62 count and most recently, on Saturday night, Wagner posted an 83-79 win at Bucknell. Columbia enters the game with a three-game losing streak and are fresh off a 62-60 home loss to Stony Brook on Saturday. This will be the 13th meeting between the schools and Columbia leads the all-time series 8-4.

Wagner enters the Columbia game ranked first in the NEC in six major statistical categories: Scoring Offense (69.2), Scoring Defense (61.8), Scoring Margin (+7.4), Field Goal % Defense (.370), Assists (15.40) and Defensive Rebounds (26.8).
THE COACHES

Mike Deane is in his 25th season as a head coach and his sixth as the head man of the Seahawks. He holds an overall coaching mark of 419-294, having eclipsed the 400-win plateau last season. His 416 wins entering the season ranked him 27th among all active coaches. In his sixth season at Wagner, Deane is 78-74 on Grymes Hill,In 2007-08, Wagner delivered a memorable and milestone season, recording that 23-8 overall record and a 15-3 mark in the NEC, which was good for second place.The 23 wins set a school record for most wins in a season, besting the old mark of 21 wins accomplished on three occasions, 1967-68, 1978-79 and 2002-03. Joe Jones in his fifth season at Columbia and has an overall record of 65-79. Over the past four years, Jones has compiled the most wins (53) of any Columbia coach over that span since the 1980-81 season. Jones' first recruiting class helped lead to the way to that mark, thanks in large part to two-time first team All-Ivy Leaguer, John Baumann. who became the 23rd player in school history to score 1,000 points, In 2006-07, the Lions finished 16-12 overall, and 7-7 in the Ivy League. The 16 wins were the Lions' most since 1992–93, and the fourth-place league finish was the Lions' best showing since 2000–01. John Baumann was named first team All-Ivy League, becoming the first Columbia player to do so since Craig Austin in 2000.
