Bronx, NY – Freshman Jeffrey Caravello (Cranford, NJ/Cranford) out vaulted the competition at the 2008 Fordham University Christmas Classic in the final competition for the Wagner track & field team until the New Year.
Caravello's 4.11m mark is his first-ever collegiate vault as well as his first-ever collegiate victory in a competition. Followed by his performance were those of Derek Schultz (Ocean Port, NJ/Shore Regional) who put forth quite a showing in the 400m with a second place 50.8 time and in 200m dash where the sophomore clocked in 22.9, good for third place.
Graduate student Brian Halling (Amherst, NH/Souhegan) gave the 3000m run all he had, resulting in a fourth place finish in 8:57.8 while freshman Thomas Iannacone (Havertown, PA/St. Joe's Prep) and sophomore Derek Rammelkamp (Miller Place, NY/Miller Place) put together fourth and fifth place finishes in the one mile run with respective times of 4:29.9 and 4:35.6.
The Seahawks are headed home for winter break and will return to the track on January 10 where they will take on the competition of the Gulden Relays hosted by Bucknell University.
