Junior guard Jasmine Nwajei (Rockaway Park, NY/Murry Bergtraum) of the women’s basketball team has been named the Walsh Electric Student Athletes of the Month for December. In seven games during the month, Nwajei averaged 24.4 points per game, highlighted by a school-record 45-point outburst on December 18 vs. Brook, which bettered the Seahawk all-time single-game scoring mark of 43 set by Stephanie Samuels vs. Fairleigh Dickinson in 1985. Against the Seawolves, the 5-8 Nwajei shot 16-of-30 from the floor, including 5-of-11 accuracy from beyond the arc. Nwajei also had a 32-point game at Yale (12/6), where she shot 14-of-29, and a 30-point effort at Penn (12/30), where she connected on 12-of-24 from the field.
