Junior guard Latif Rivers led Wagner to a 5-3 record in the month of February thanks to averaging a team-best 17.9 points per game while shooting 51.3 percent (41-of-80) from the field, including a blistering 50.0 percent (19-of-38) from long range. The Garden State native also converted on 82.8 percent (24-of-29) from the line whle notching double-figures in all seven of his games, highlighted by three 20-plus point performances. Rivers opened the month of February by scoring 26 of his game-high 29 points after halftime against Quinnipiac while becoming the 40th member of the Wagner 1,000-point club in the process. He followed that up with 17 points in a 74-65 victory over Mount St. Mary’s, before scoring all 22 of his points after halftime in a narrow loss at Robert Morris. Rivers was 6-of-11 from the field, 3-of-4 from deep and 7-of-8 from the line in helping the Seahawks erase a 20-point second half deficit just to force overtime. Despite scoring just 15 points in the victory over Central Connecticut, Rivers attacked the glass to the tune of a career-best matching seven rebounds. He then scored 18 of his 20 points after halftime in helping Wagner avenge a prior loss to NEC-leading Bryant. Rivers capped his big month with 10 points at St. Francis Brooklyn and 12 in a win over two-time defending NEC Champion LIU Brooklyn, helping to close out the victory with four-straight free throws in the game’s final minute. On the year, Rivers is averaging 13.2 points per game and is currently 30th in school history with 1,105 points.
