Lutfi Pocesta’s stellar month of January featured his winning two consecutive Northeast Conference (NEC) Field Athlete of the Week awards. On January 31, the Staten Island native broke the school record in the weight throw event with a mark of 17.65m, as he claimed second-place honors in the event. The throw widened his first-place standing on the NEC Performance List, as he remains in first. Twelve days ealier, on January 19, Pocesta copped his first NEC weekly honor for his efforts at the Penn 8-Team Select, where he took home first-place honors in the weight throw finals, with his best launch landing 17.58m. In addition, Pocesta finished among the top-10 in the shot put finals at the Penn 8, with his best mark reaching 14.62m. The senior thrower is also among the top-10 in this event on the NEC Performance List.
