Makenna DePuydt started the 2018 calendar year off fast, winning six individual events in three meets. At the Fairfield Tri-Meet (1/5), the Santa Cruz, CA native earned a victory in the 200m Free (2:08.83), ahead of senior Leahi Camacho (2:09.73), as well as second-place performances in the 400 Free (4:33.22) and 100 Free (1:00:54), while also shining in the 200m Free Relay (1:51.22), which picked up a first-place finish. In a home meet vs. Rhode Island (1/13), she native was victorious in three events, taking first place in the 1000 Free (10:43.10), 100 Free (54.94), and 500 Free (5:16.70). DePuydt then capped off the month with first-place finishes in the 200 Free (1:55.84) and 500 Free (5:11.37) in Wagner's Senior Meet victory over LIU Brooklyn (1/27), in the Seahawks' final regular season meet before the NEC Championships that will be held Feb. 21-24.
