Staten Island, NY – Wagner College guard and two-time Northeast Conference (NEC) Player of the Year Alex Morales will play for the reigning NBA Champion Golden State Warriors in this year's NBA Summer League.

In his three-year career on Grymes Hill, Morales became the13th player in NEC history to compile 1,000 points, 500 rebounds and 250 assists while leading Wagner with 19 points, seven rebounds, and four assists per contest.

The Paterson, NJ native became the fourth player in league history to repeat as NEC Player of the Year while also earning Defensive Player of the Year and First Team All-NEC honors. He was voted to the NABC District 15 First Team, earned ECAC Player of the Year and First Team All-Met honors in 2022.

In Wagner's NEC quarterfinal win over Saint Francis U, Morales recorded 11 points, 12 rebounds, and 10 assists, recording the 12th triple-double in the NEC since 1997.

The last known triple-double in NEC Tournament action dates back to 1983, when LIU's Carey Scurry recorded 12 points, 13 rebounds, 10 blocks in the ECAC quarterfinals on March 9, 1983.

The Golden State Warriors recently defeated the Boston Celtics to win the NBA championship. Golden State will host the fourth annual California Classic, playing two games against the Sacramento Kings and Los Angeles Lakers on July 2-3.

The Warriors will also compete in the NBA's annual Las Vegas Summer League, where they will face off against the New York Knicks on July 8 at 5 PM ET on ESPN2, before taking on the San Antonio Spurs on July 10 at 7:30 PM ET on NBA TV. The Warriors are scheduled to play against the Boston Celtics on July 12 at 8:00 PM ET on ESPN2, before a matchup with the Oklahoma City Thunder on July 15 at 7:00 PM ET on ESPN rounds out the Summer League schedule.

The last Wagner player to be affiliated with an NBA team was Terrance Bailey, who was drafted by the Atlanta Hawks in 1987. Morales will become the first NEC player to play in the NBA Summer League since FDU's Darnell Edge played for the Utah Jazz in 2019.

Morales joined LIU's Carey Scurry (1983-84 and 1984-85), Marist's Rik Smits (1986-87 and 1987-88) and LIU's Charles Jones (1996-97 and 1997-98) as the only players to win NEC Player of the Year twice while becoming the first Wagner player ever to achieve the feat.

Last season, Morales became Wagner's third-ever player to win the award, joining NEC Hall of Famers Terrance Bailey (1985-86) and Jermaine Hall (2002-03).

Additionally, Morales and CCSU's Rick Mickens (1999-00) are the only two NEC Players to win NEC Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year in the same season.
