2011-12 Freshman Season
Appeared in 28 games for the Seahawks, starting in 24 of them … averaged 6.1 points, 3.6 assists, and 28.0 minutes per game … Led the team in assists (100) … Third in points (172) … Tied for third in made field goals (61) … Tallied career-high 15 on 5-of-7 shooting, dished out four assists and made two steals points off the bench in a win against Columbia (11/16) … Followed up that effort with career-high nine-assist game at NJIT (11/19) … The nine helpers were the most by a Seahawk since Feb. 7, 2009 when Andrea Reed handed out nine vs. Saint Francis (PA) … For her efforts vs. Columbia and NJIT, Thompson was named the NEC Rookie of the Week for the week of 11/21 … Scored 12 points against Lehigh (11/27) … Recorded 10 points and six assists against Central Connecticut (1/14) … Contributed eight points and eight assists against New Hampshire (12/21) … Had 11 points at Virginia (12/28) … Scored 10 points in games against Elon (12/29), Quinnipiac (1/28), and Mount St. Mary’s (2/15) … Dished out nine assists at NJIT (11/19).
Scholastic/Personal
Played for Coach Terry Mancini at St. Basil Academy, she finished her stellar scholastic career with 1,120 career points, becoming just the third player in St. Basil history to top the 1,000-point mark. One of the other two players to accomplish this feat was Thompson’s older sister Samantha, who went on to play for Duquesne University from 2006-2010. As a senior captain, Thompson averaged 11.1 points, 6.2 assists and 4.4 steals per game in leading the Panthers to an appearance in the state finals while earning All-AACA First-Team honors. In a 51-49 win over Nazareth in the District One Class AAA third-place game, Thompson tossed in 19 points and dished out six assists. As a junior, she checked in with a14.5 points per game average and 5.5 assists and 4.4 steals per game. During her junior season, she guided her team to the AACA League and District Championships. She was a First-team All-Academy selection following her junior and senior seasons. She competed for the Suburban team in the All-Star Labor Classic which annually pits the top Suburban players vs. the City players in a game held at LaSalle University in Philadelphia. Thompson was also a recipient of the prestigious Philadelphia Markward Basketball Club Award. An honor roll student, Thompson was recruited by a wide array of fine academic and athletic institutions, including the U.S. Naval Academy and Cornell University.
