Pete Lappas

Pete Lappas joins the Wagner staff after spending the past seven seasons at fellow Northeast Conference (NEC) member Fairleigh Dickinson in various roles.

“I’m very excited for Pete to join our staff," head coach Donald Copeland commented. "He’s been around the game of basketball throughout his entire life and his knowledge of our conference and the area will make him a great asset on the court and on the recruiting trail.”

At FDU, Lappas was part of the 2016 and 2019 teams that won the NEC title, with the 2019 team earning the program’s first-ever postseason victory. In the last three seasons, Lappas has helped with the development of five NEC All-Rookie selections, including 2022 NEC Rookie of the Year Anquan Hill.

Lappas came to FDU after two seasons as a graduate assistant manager at Temple. During his first year in Philadelphia, the Owls finished 24-10 (11-5 Atlantic 10) and made the NCAA Tournament, where they defeated NC State.

The Pennsylvania native holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications from Boston College and Master’s Degree in Sport and Recreation Management from Temple.

Lappas is the son of Steve Lappas, who was the former head coach at Villanova (1992-2001) and Massachusetts (2001-05) and now current college basketball analyst for CBS Sports Network.
