Wagner College Athletics

Before Wagner:  A four-year varsity member of the Colonia High School baseball team... In addition to being on the Patriots baseball team, he played on the football team (freshman season) as well as the Patriots' basketball team (freshman and sophomore year)... In his three seasons at Colonia, compiled a 16-9 record with a 2.54 ERA... Went 5-1 in his freshman year, throwing 44.2 innings in which he struck out 28 batters... Fanned a season-high eight batters in a 3-2 win over Perth Amboy (4/5/17) in seven innings of work... Named Top Freshman in the State as well as garnering All-Division and Honorable Mention All-County honors... In his sophomore season, went 8-3 with a 2.65 ERA... Struck out 37 batters... Recorded a season-best six strikeouts, twice, the last coming against Ferris (5/24/18) in a 12-2 victory... Led the Patriots to the division championship and a state runner-up finish... At season's end, led the state in wins and was ranked the No. 2 pitcher in New Jersey... Named to the Second Team All-County, All-Division... In his junior season, he struck out a career-high 43 batters... Matched his career-high with eight strikeouts in a 4-0 win at Sayerville (4/24/19)... Repeated on the Second Team and was named to his third straight All-County team... In the classroom, was named to the Honor Roll every semester and was the President of the New Jersey Honor Society... Graduated in the top-ten percent of his class... Son of Leanne Nielson... Has one sibling, Erick... Plans on majoring in Finance while minoring in Sociology at Wagner.
