Frank Del George joined the Wagner baseball staff ahead of the 2026 season, serving as a volunteer assistant coach.
The Seahawks appeared in the NEC Tournament for a fourth consecutive season in 2026, earning a pair of All-NEC first team honors and placing two on the second team. In 2026, the Seahawks were ranked along the conference top three in nine statistical categories, leading the conference in sacrifice flies (44) and finished second in hits (545), doubles, (105), walks (324) and on-base percentage, (.421). The Green & White also ranked third in the following categories: batting average (.304), runs (441), RBIs (400) and total bases (756).
A long-time teacher of the game, Del George served for 33 years as a faculty member at Xaverian, retiring in 2021 after serving as head baseball coach for 12 years, Chairman of the Physical Education Department and helped the Clippers to six Brooklyn-Queens League Championships, three CHSAA championships and has been named CHSAA Coach of the Year two times.
As a player, Del George was an infielder at St. Francis College, where he was twice named a Metro Conference All Star. He began his 25-year tenure as the youngest DI Head Baseball Coach at Saint Francis College, leading the Terriers to two Northeast Conference Championships. He was twice named NEC Coach of the Year and was inducted into the St. Francis College Athletic Hall of Fame.
Serving as Head Coach of the Brooklyn Clippers and the Metro Cadets of the Atlantic Collegiate Baseball League, he led his teams to four titles, with the crowning achievement of having 20 plus players drafted by Major League Baseball, all while carving out his own niche as a mainstay of the Italian Professional Baseball League as a player, coach and part-owner of the Anzio Sharks and Anzio Dolphins, where he continues to coach and run clinics and camps during the summer.
Del George has also served as a Major League Baseball International Envoy clinician, coaching teams, and running clinics in Italy and Japan. He is a long-time member of the American Baseball Coaches Association and the Italian-American Baseball Foundation.Â
