David Yourke begins his first season at Wagner College as Director of Baseball Operations.
Yourke is no stranger to Staten Island as he most recently served as a coach for the NY Prospects. He coaches 11U and 13U winter workouts, spring practices, and summer clinics, along with league and tournament games. Yourke's other experiences include being a Founders Assistant at Athelite Player development, where he assisted with a variety of administrative tasks and facilitated baseball camps by collecting player data.
Yourke pitched at Wofford College in Spartanburg, SC and appeared in 17 games from 2019-21. The left-handed hurler posted a 1-4 record with a 4.56 ERA and in 47.1 innings recorded 29 strikeouts. He graduated in 2021 with a Bachelor's Degree in English with a concentration in film and digital media.Â
Yourke played his senior year of high school baseball at Trinity Christian Academy where he had six wins and 47 strikeouts in 33 innings with a 1.68 ERA. He pitched a no-hitter and was named the 2A-7 Pitcher of the Year and All-District as the team was 22-6 overall and won the 2A Florida State Championship. During his junior season at Farrell High School in Staten Island, he was named an SI Advance All-Star and earned All-State honors from the sportswriters. He led the league with 70 strikeouts and ranked in the top five in the conference in ERA and batting average. As a sophomore, Yourke led the conference in strikeouts with 72 and had a .452 batting average.
Aside from his duties on the baseball coaching staff, Yourke will be pursuing a Master's Degree on Grymes Hill.
