Andrew Turner embarks on his second season as a member of the Wagner baseball coaching staff.
Turner, who played professionally within the Miami Marlins organization, was drafted twice by them in 2017 and 2018. In 81 career minor league games spanning three teams, the Pennsylvania native recorded 59 hits with a .348 on base percentage and 35 runs scored.
No stranger to the Northeast Conference (NEC), Turner played collegiately at LIU, winning the NEC Championship in 2018. He finished his college career batting .300 with 14 home runs and 77 RBIs in 165 games. He slashed .346/.493/.531 during his senior year.
Starting at first base at LIU, Turner earned second team All-ECAC and first team All-NEC honors as a senior. He was also named to the NEC All-Tournament team as the Blackbirds won their first ever NEC Championship tournament title and advanced to the NCAA Regionals. His 42 career doubles rank second in LIU history.
Apart from his coaching duties, Turner will pursue his Master’s Degree in Business Administration.
