Before Wagner: Attended Bishop McLaughlin Catholic in Spring Hill, FL where he was a four-year member of the Hurricanes baseball program under head coach Jeff Swymer… Also played one year of football and was a member of the swimming team for a season… In the classroom, was a four-year member of the Honor Roll… In his sophomore year, was selected to the National Honor Society… The following year, was named to the National Science and English Honors Society… In his final year, was named to the National Beta Club, RHO Kappa and Quill & Scroll… On the diamond, batted .250 with a .308 on-base percentage in only 11 games… His sophomore season, he produced eight RBIs and scored 12 runs….His junior season came as a breakthrough year, as he was named Offensive MVP and First Team All-North SunCoast after batting .376 with 14 RBIs, 30 runs scored and posting an on-base percentage of .425… In his final year at Bishop McLaughlin, was the 3A District 6 Player of the Year while earning Pasco County All-Star status… Additionally was named to the All-Florida Academic Team as well as the FACA Florida All-Star game Nominee after batting .330 with 21 RBIs, 22 runs scored and produced 30 hits… Helped the Hurricanes to three district championships, two regional champions and a state final four during his high school career… Son of Andres Diaz Jr. and Debbie Rebecca Diaz… Has one sibling, Dominic, who played a season of baseball at the College of Central Florida… Undecided on a major at Wagner.
