Raced in eight of nine competitions … Had his best finish in 8K runs at the Albany Invitational with a time of 26:02.2 … Finished 29th in 28:04 at the 8K Northeast Conference (NEC) Championships and 131st with a mark of 35:14 at the NCAA Northeast Regional Championships ... Also was 59th at the ECAC/IC4A Championships 8K, checking in at 26:56.

2007 Freshman Season
2007 NEC Rookie of the Year ... Was a four-time NEC Rookie of the Week selection ... Garnered conference accolades for his performances at the Stony Brook Invitational (9/9), METS Championships (10/5), Albany Invitational (10/13) and CCSU Mini-Meet (10/20) ... Placed 17th at the NEC Championship with a time of 27:21.

Scholastic / Personal:
Attended Miller Place High School, participating on the cross country and track & field teams under the direction of Sean O’Brien … Earned four letters in outdoor track & field, three in indoor track & field and three cross country … All-State, All-County and All-League selection in cross country … Took second at the Suffolk County Championships … All-County and All-League in indoor track & field while winning the 3200 and 1000 meters and running a leg on the victorious 4x800 relay team … All-County in outdoor track & field while being a member of the Division 3 victorious 4x800 meter relay team … Holds the school-record in the mile with a time of 4:24.60 … Has three siblings; Crystal (28), Matthew (25) and a twin brother Thomas (20) … Derek is also a member of the cross country, indoor track & field and outdoor track & field teams at Wagner … Born on October 31, 1989 … Standout in the classroom, All Country Academic cross country, indoor and outdoor track & field honors … Majoring in Chemistry with a minor in math at Wagner.
