STATEN ISLAND, N.Y.  — The Wagner College women's soccer team remained unbeaten in NEC play with a 1-0 victory over Howard on Sunday afternoon on Hameline Field.

Wagner (3-5-2, 2-0-0 NEC) controlled the offensive action throughout the opening half, outshooting the Bison 11-2 while generating four corner kicks.

Howard (1-5-2, 1-1-0 NEC) created more pressure following halftime, but junior goalkeeper Abigail Marcello kept the Bison off the board. Marcello made her first save just 15 seconds into the second half before adding stops in the 74th and 82nd minutes.

With the game still scoreless, the Seahawks found the breakthrough at the 76:59 mark. Sophomore Riley Frederick set up junior Alana Arjona, who converted for the game-winning goal to give Wagner a 1-0 advantage. 

Wagner finished with a 15-9 advantage in shots and a 10-3 edge in shots on goal. Junior Kelly Gallagher led the Seahawks with six shots, including three on target, while Arjona finished with three shots on goal. Marcello made three saves to record the clean sheet.

The Seahawks continue NEC action on Thursday, Oct. 1, on the road against New Haven. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. in West Haven, Conn.
