VESTAL, N.Y. — Wagner women's tennis completed its first day at the NEC Individuals on Friday, coming away with multiple wins throughout the multiple singles flights. 

Junior Liepa Sataite earned the No. 7 seed in the Flight A bracket and won her first round match against Binghamton's Apara Khandare with a 6-3, 6-4 final score. Sataite would lose in the next round however, dropping the quarterfinal match 0-6, 1-6 to FDU's Sophia Fredericks-McKee.

Senior Dariana Vera played in the Flight D bracket, and lost in the first round in a three-set battle, ultimately dropping the match 2-6, 6-4, 3-10 to New Haven's Sofia Lazaro. Vera will continue her tournament against Stonehill's Iliana deArmas in the consolation round.

In Flight F, two Seahawks won their way to the semifinals, starting with sophomore Alexia Estrada, who earned the No. 1 seed in the bracket. She defeated Stonehill's Elsa Seippel in comeback fashion after dropping the first set, ultimately winning 2-6, 6-0, 10-4. She will face off against Chicago State's Verona Madigan for a spot in the Flight F championship.

Further down the same bracket, No. 4 seed junior Claudia Lindsey won her match against New Haven's Leni Bischof in straight sets 6-2, 6-4. Lindsey will also play for a spot in the championship round by taking on Stonehill's Carlota Souto in the semifinals.

The Seahawks will return to the NEC Individuals tomorrow at the Lane - Starke Tennis Center.
