Swimming and Diving Announces Recruiting Class for 2026-27

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The Wagner swimming and diving teams announced their recruiting classes for the 2026-27 season. The two teams signed 10 total student-athletes, with the men's team signing six recruits, and the women's team signing four.

The Men's Recruits:
Hunter Johnson | Sturgis, SD
The first of two recruits from the Rushmore State, Hunter Johnson comes to Wagner as the third-ranked swimmer in South Dakota according to SwimCloud. During his senior season, he won five events at the South Dakota 13o Championships, including three freestyle races (500-yard, 1000-yard, 1650-yard), the 50-yard backstroke, and the 400-yard individual medley.

Owen Johnson | Rapid City, SD
The second South Dakota-born recruit, Owen Johnson placed one spot ahead Hunter Johnson in the state rankings. In the Speedo Sectionals in West Fargo, ND, Johnson swam a personal best 50.22 time in the 100-yard butterfly. He earned another personal best in the 200-yard freestyle relay, swimming a 22.50 second time in his leg of the relay.

Hayden Lenarz | Sartell, MN
Lenarz joins the Seahawks coming off a successful senior season in the Minnesota State High School League. In the section 5A championships, Lenarz won the 200-yard freestyle event (1:46.11), then placed third in the same event at the state championships (1:44.50). He was the top-ranked swimmer at Sartell High School, and second-ranked at Central Minnesota Aquatics.

Surf Santiago | Port St. Lucie, FL
The Florida-born Santiago joins Wagner after competing with Los Makos de Barcaloneta in Puerto Rico, where he was the top-ranked swimmer. At his most recent event, he swam a personal-best 26.53 second time in the 50-yard butterfly. In high school, he finished top-10 in every event at the FSHAA 2A State Championships.

Anthony Vasilov | Edison, NJ
The closest recruit to Staten Island, Vasilov competed at a high level in his home county of Middlesex. At the West Windsor Pirate Invitational this past January, Vasilov swam in the 50-yard and 100-yard freestyle events, and won both of them with times of 21.89 and 48.38 seconds respectively. At the Greater Middlesex Swim Championships, he finished first again in the 100-yard freestyle with a 47.59 time.

Raiden Yoza | Honolulu, HI
The fourth-ranked swimmer in the state of Hawai'i, Yoza set multiple personal bests and had five top-five finishes in the Hawai'i Senior Championships. He followed that up with four new personal bests (50y free, 100y free, 100y fly, 100y back) in the PN BC Premier invitational in Washington.
 

The Women's Recruits:
Camila Bossa | Puyallup, WA
Bossa finished her senior season as the 22nd-ranked recruit from Washington, and the 10th-ranked swimmer at the King Aquatic Club. She placed fourth in the 1650-yard freestyle event at the Washington State Senior Championships, and second in the 200-yard backstroke (2:30.26) at the THSC Spring Invitational, her most recent competition.

Ruby Scalzo | Newport Beach, CA
Scalzo joins the Seahawks as the second swimmer from the west coast, joining Bossa. Scalzo will specialize in the freestyle events, as well as the 100-yard breaststroke.

Emily Ross | Dunedin, FL
A top recruit out of Palm Harbor University High School, Ross set two personal records in the Florida Swimming Senior Championships. She swam a 1:01.02 in the 100-yard backstroke, and 2:12.80 in the 200-yard individual medley. She set another personal record in the 200-yard backstroke event at the Spring Area 3 Championships in St. Petersburg, FL.

Kenna Stinson | Mesa, AZ
Stinson joins the Seahawks as the 18th-ranked recruit out of the state of Arizona, according to SwimCloud. Specializing in the backstroke events, Stinson swam a season-best 1:02.6 in the 100-yard backstroke at the Arizona Senior State Championships. 
 

The Seahawks are coming off a season where both the men's and women's teams placed top-3 in the NEC Championships. The men's team finished second behind Howard with 787.5 points, going on three straight seasons finishing in the top half of the conference. The women's team finished third with 407 points, their third top-3 finish in four seasons.
