No. 4 Women's Tennis Loses NEC Semifinal

WEST WINDSOR, N.J. — No. 4 Wagner women's tennis fell in the NEC semifinals to No. 1 FDU on Friday by the score of 4-1.

The Seahawks got off to a fast start, securing the doubles point with wins on courts 2 and 3. Senior Samantha Bentsianov and sophomore Liepa Sataite clinched the first win in third doubles, then freshman Alexia Estrada and sophomore Claudia Lindsey battled their way to a 6-2 victory in second doubles.

But the Knights roared back with four consecutive singles wins, all of them in straight sets. Sataite and Estrada each forced their opponent to win a seventh game in a set; additionally, Lindsey and junior Dariana Vera were able to secure a set each on courts 5 and 6, with Vera coming back from one set down to tie her match. However, when the Knights clinched on court 4, the match was over, and the Seahawks were eliminated.

Wagner women's tennis will return to the courts in the 2026-27 season.
