OVERLAND PARK, Kan. — Senior shortstop and right-handed pitcher Nicholas Mazzotta has been named to the College Baseball Hall of Fame's John Olerud Two-Way Player Award Watch List, the organization announced on Wednesday.
Wagner's lone two-way player, Mazzotta is an instrumental bat in the lineup while also serving as an effective relief pitcher in close games. Appearing in eight games through non-conference play, Mazzotta has four runs scored on five hits, with five RBIs and a walk. He made one appearance out of the bullpen, throwing the final inning of Wagner's February 22 game at UC Riverside and earning his first save of the season on the way to the team's first win of the season.
In 2025, Mazzotta posted a .335 batting average as one of two Wagner players to start all 53 games, finishing the season with 74 hits, 27 walks and 16 doubles. On the mound, Mazzotta threw 9.0 innings in ten appearances, allowing just nine runs and striking out 13 opposing batters on the way to three saves.
Next up, Mazzotta and the Seahawks host FDU for the team's home opener and the first series of conference play, playing Friday, March 6 in a 1 p.m. EST game at Kean University's Jim Hynes '63 Stadium.
