STATEN ISLAND, N.Y — The Wagner women's tennis team fell to Norfolk State 6-1 on Saturday.
Before the match, the Seahawks honored senior
Samantha Bentsianov for her four years as a member of Wagner women's tennis.
The match started poorly for the Seahawks, as they were not able to collect a win in the doubles round, and fell behind 1-0. Freshman
Alexia Estrada and sophomore
Claudia Lindsey came closest to getting a win, as they forced an extra game against the Norfolk State doubles pair on court 2, but they would drop the match 7-5.
Only one Seahawk earned a win in the singles round, as sophomore
Victoria Madail took down her opponent in straight sets on court 1. Lindsey came the closest to getting a second win after forcing a third set on court 5, but she lost a close third set (7-5) as the Spartans clinched the 6-1 victory with four more straight-set wins in the singles round.
