STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The Wagner women's tennis team lost a tightly-contested match against Colgate on Friday, 4-3 on their home floor.
The Seahawks started off well, taking two of the three doubles matches to take a 1-0 team lead. Sophomore
Liepa Sataite and senior
Samantha Bentsianov got the doubles round started with a 6-3 win on court 3. Later, after Wagner dropped the match on court 2, sophomore
Victoria Madail and junior
Dariana Vera clinched the doubles point with an identical 6-3 victory.
In the singles rounds, Sataite again would finish first with a straight-set win on court 2. Then, the Seahawks took a 3-1 lead when Madail came back to win her match after dropping the first set. But they couldn't hold on, as the Raiders would take each of the last three singles matches to win 4-3.
