SYRACUSE, N.Y. — The Wagner College men's basketball team continues NEC play on the road Friday, Jan. 23, with a matchup against Le Moyne. Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m. at Ted Grant Court, with live coverage available on NEC Front Row.
Friday's contest marks the fifth all-time meeting between the programs, with the series tied at two wins apiece. The home team has claimed victory in every matchup to date, as the teams have split the season series in each of the past two seasons.
Le Moyne (9–10, 4–2 NEC) enters the game following an 83–77 home victory over preseason NEC favorite LIU. The Dolphins are led by head coach Nate Champion, now in his fifth season. Le Moyne ranks third in the NEC in scoring at 74.3 points per game and fourth in three-point shooting percentage (35.7%). Graduate student forward Shilo Jackson leads the Dolphins with 14.8 points per game, ranking seventh in the league, while also sitting second in the NEC with 8.3 rebounds per contest. Picked ninth in the NEC Preseason Coaches Poll, Le Moyne earned the No. 8 seed in last season's NEC Tournament before falling to top-seeded CCSU in the opening round.
Wagner enters the matchup following a 68–61 road loss at FDU. Junior
Nick Jones poured in a team-high 20 points while logging all 40 minutes, adding six rebounds and two steals. The performance marked Jones' third consecutive 20-point outing — the longest such streak by a Seahawk since Alex Morales in 2021. Junior
Bryan Akanmu chipped in 12 points on an efficient 5-of-8 shooting effort, while junior
John Awoke added nine points. Wagner shot 43.8 percent from the field and 35.7 percent from beyond the arc, while converting 87.5 percent of its free-throw attempts.
On the season, the Seahawks rank second in the NEC in rebounding (38.2 per game), fourth in scoring (74.0 ppg), and fifth in assists (13.8 per game). Jones leads the Green & White with 15.0 points per contest, ranking seventh in the league, while redshirt senior
Jaden Baker averages 3.9 assists per game, good for fourth in the NEC.
Following Friday's matchup, Wagner will conclude its four-game NEC road trip Sunday, Jan. 25, at LIU, with a 1:00 p.m. tip-off in Brooklyn, N.Y.
