Staten Island, NY – Wagner College men's water polo head coach Josh Hower announced senior attacker Laszlo Strasser as the team captain for the upcoming 2025 season.
The Seahawks are led by the Budapest, Hungary native for their upcoming campaign.
The Green & White completed a strong 2024 campaign, finishing with an overall record of 19-19, highlighted by key regular season victories over Mount St. Mary's and Bucknell, a competitive showing at the Gary Troyer Memorial Tournament against nationally ranked opponents, and a return to the Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) semifinals for the second consecutive year.
Strasser enters his fourth season as a member of the Seahawks. To begin his 2023 season, Laszlo earned the conference's Player of the Week honor after scoring 10 goals, seven assists, eight drawn exclusions and seven steals during Wagner's opening weekend two seasons ago. At the conclusion of the 2023 campaign, Strasser was named First Team All-MAWPC.
In 2024, Strasser remained sidelined for a majority of the season due to injury.
"Laci [Laszlo] has been a leader in this program since his arrival here as a freshman" commented Hower. "His work ethic, level of preparedness to compete, and relentless push to better himself and his teammates has been a crucial piece in the development of our program. We missed him in the water last year due to injury, but he put the work in to get healthy, return to play, and lead our team this year as captain."
The Wagner men's water polo program will embark on its tenth season in program history in 2025.
The Seahawks are set to open their fall campaign at the Bruno Classic, competing at both Brown and Harvard on August 30–31, with scheduled matchups against LIU, Brown, MIT, and Harvard.
