Staten Island, NY - The Wagner College women's tennis team secured a wire-to-wire win on Saturday night with a 4–3 victory over visiting Monmouth.

The Seahawks started the day by sweeping the doubles point with strong performances across the board. Hernandez and junior
Samantha Bentsianov were the first to wrap their match; 6-1, on court #3. Sophomore
Dariana Vera and freshman
Victoria Madail displayed their strong partnership in a 6-4 clincher on court #2. Freshman
Claudia Lindsey continued her recent string of success at #1 doubles. Her partner on this occasion was Ysabelle Uy. Lindsey/Uy took the top court 6-4.
Playing shorthanded at the top of the singles lineup, the Seahawks found the points they needed to secure the win. Bentsianov made quick work on court #4, 6-2, 6-2.
Hernandez was a winner in three sets on court #2, 6-4, 3-6, 6-2.
Monmouth pulled closer with wins on courts #3 and #6. Uy was unable to make the most of leads in both sets of a 3-6, 3-6 defeat. Lindsey battled at #6, but dropped her match in straight sets, 2-6, 2-6.
Vera won her opening set, 7-5, but ultimately fell in three. However, at the moment Monmouth got that third point on court #5, Madail clinched the match for Wagner at #1. Playing in the top spot for the third time this season, the freshman showed great resilience after dropping the first set, 2-6, 6-2, 6-1.
The Seahawks return to action on Friday, April 11 at NEC rival, LIU. First serve is scheduled for 1pm at the Brookville, Long Island Campus.
