Women's Tennis Dominates On The Road Against Coppin State

Baltimore, MD - The Wagner College women's tennis team notched a convincing 7-0 road victory over Coppin State in Baltimore on Saturday, March 8.
The Seahawks swept the doubles point. Graduate student Daniela Hernandez and junior Samantha Bentsianov won at #2, 6-4. Sophomore Dariana Vera got her weekend off to a good start with freshman partner, Victoria Madail, 6-3 at #1.
Wagner kept the momentum through singles play. Madail won 6-4, 6-3 at #1. Hernandez was a 6-3, 6-3 winner at #2. Senior Paula Uy secured a 6-3, 6-1 victory at #3.
Vera notched a 6-0, 6-0 win at #4 and freshman Claudia Lindsey was efficient at #5, 6-1, 6-2. Freshman Leah Ollivierre received walkover wins at #6 singles and #3 doubles.
"We were a resilient group today facing tough weather conditions on the road." said Wagner's tennis head coach, Jeff Menaker. "Tennis can be very ugly in the wind, but we made a nice transition from playing indoors yesterday to playing outside. I'm very pleased for Claudia Lindsey, who kept it simple and played a smart singles match."
The Seahawks get right back at it Sunday in Baltimore as they visit Morgan State in a match to be played at Goucher College's tennis courts at 2pm.
