Women’s Tennis Falls To FDU

Teaneck, NJThe Wagner College women's tennis team was defeated by NEC rival Fairleigh Dickinson, 2-4, on Friday, March 28.

In doubles play, the Seahawks took court #2 by retirement with sophomore Dariana Vera and freshman Victoria Madail leading 2-1 at the time their opponents forfeited. The Knights secured victories on courts #1 and #3 to claim the point.

In singles action, freshman Victoria Madail extended her winning streak, earning a 1-6, 6-4 win, securing the match by retirement in the third set on court #2. Graduate Daniela Hernandez also fought back to claim a 4-6, 7-5, 7-5 victory on court #3.


Despite the strong performances from Hernandez and Madail, the Seahawks were unable to maintain their momentum as the Knights won on courts one, four, five with court six being unfinished due to darkness.


The Green and White will return to action on Sunday, March 30, when they face NEC rival Mercyhurst. First serve is scheduled for 11 AM.
