Staten Island, NY – The Wagner College women's tennis team bounced back with a dominant 4-0 sweep of Providence on Sunday night, marking their return to the win column.
The Seahawks took control early, clinching the doubles point with victories on courts #1 and #3. Freshmen Liepa Sataite and Claudia Lindsey won 6-4 on court #1, while graduate student Daniela Hernandez and junior Samantha Bentsianov followed suit with a 6-4 triumph on court #3.
Sataite was the first to finish during singles play, overcoming a tense first set before closing out her opponent 7-5, 6-0 on court #1.
Freshman Victoria Madail extended her impressive streak with her second win of the weekend and her fifth consecutive singles victory, cruising to a 6-4, 6-2 win on court #2.
Hernandez delivered the match-clinching point for Wagner, securing the team's fifth win of the season with a 6-3, 7-6 (4) victory.
The Seahawks will head on the road for a pair of NEC matches at Fairleigh Dickinson on Friday, with the first serve scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
