This Week In Wagner Athletics; Eight Teams In Action As Baseball And Women’s Lacrosse Get Set To Begin Their Respective Seasons

Staten Island, NY - Here is a look at the Wagner Athletics events for this week. 

 

Baseball 

- Wagner will be hitting the road to open the season, heading south to Gastonia, NC to take on Indiana State. Picked to finish second in the NEC, the Seahawks will have a series against Merrimack and Winthrop before conference play begins in March with Norfolk State.

Men's Basketball

- The Seahawks will travel to Syracuse for a matchup with Le Moyne on Thursday, February 13. Tip-off is set for 7:00 pm.

- Wagner will be off on Saturday, and will return to action at the Spiro Sports Center against Stonehill on Thursday, February 20 at 7:00 pm.

Men's Lacrosse

- Wagner will host the Mount St. Mary's Mountaineers on Saturday, February 15 on Hameline Field. Opening face-off is set for noon.

- This is the first of three straight home games for the Seahawks, as Wagner is home against UMass-Lowell on Saturday, February 22 and against Monmouth on Tuesday, February 25.

 

Track & Field 

- Wagner will conclude the indoor season this weekend, with NEC Championships taking place on Sunday, February 16 and Monday, February 17 at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex. 

- Last year, the men's team finished in first place with the women coming in third, as both teams are looking to repeat their performances from last year.

Women's Basketball 

- The Seahawks will host Le Moyne on Thursday, February 13 for their Play4Kay game. 

'More Than a Cause, a Movement — A national grassroots movement, united in the fight against all cancers affecting women. Celebrating cancer survivors, thrivers and warriors through sports while raising funds.'

- Graduate student Julia Fabozzi was named an NEC Prime Performer for her efforts last week. In two games, Fabozzi averaged 24.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and 1.0 blocks. Against LIU, she scored a career and NEC season high 40 points.

Women's Bowling

- The Green & White will compete in the Northeast Conference (NEC) Meet from Friday, February 14 to Sunday, February 16 in Altoona, PA. 

 

Women's Lacrosse

- Wagner will begin its 2025 campaign against the Drexel Dragons on Wednesday, February 12 on Hameline Field. Opening draw control is set for 6:00 pm.

Women's Tennis

- In just the second match of the spring campaign, the Seahawks host Hofstra on Friday, February 14 after dropping their spring opener, 6-1, to Stony Brook.
