STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – The Wagner College women's basketball team takes on NJAC member NJCU for a Tuesday afternoon tip-off on NEC Front Row. The Seahawks-Gothic Knights matchup is set to begin at 2:00 p.m. at the Spiro Sports Center in Staten Island, N.Y.

Junior Lijirin Doyinsola Modesayor is one of three players in the NEC to be averaging 10.3 points and 6.3 rebounds per game. Senior Irene Fernandez de Caleya has scored in double-figures in four of her last five games.
Wagner is one of four NEC teams to have at least three wins so far this season. The Seahawks rank second in the conference in steals per game with 8.8 and team offensive rebounds with 14.5.
The Emergence Of Doy
Junior Lijirin Doyinsola Modesayor has been named an NEC Prime Performer twice this season, most recently after scoring 12 points and grabbing eight rebounds in Wagner's 46-34 win at Rider. On the season, Modesayor has recorded two double-doubles and leads the Seahawks in points scored (10.3), rebounds (6.3), and blocks (0.9) per game. The Nigeria native has corralled at least eight rebounds in five of her first ten games this season.
The Series
This is the first time meeting between these two programs. The winner of Tuesday's game will have a 1-0 all-time series lead over the other.
Scouting NJCU
The Gothic Knights come into Tuesday's game with a 4-5 overall record and a 3-2 NJAC mark.
Sophomore Meghan Gentile, a transfer from Eastern Michigan, leads NJCU at 20.5 points and 5.6 rebounds per game, highlighted by a 26-point performance last time out at Kean.
Junior Na'tori Postell adds 10.5 points and 3.9 rebounds per game while sophomore Kaylah Neal chips in 10.0 points and 5.1 rebounds per contest.
A Win Would..
A Seahawks' win over the Gothic Knights would grant Wagner four non-conference wins in one season for the first time in three seasons (since 2022-23).
A Look Ahead to January
The Seahawks will compete in 18 conference games, starting on Friday, January 2 as Wagner will host Chicago State at 7:00 pm at the Spiro Sports Center. Wagner will then compete in three straight away games - at Stonehill on Sunday, January 4, at Saint Francis U on Thursday, January 8, and at Mercyhurst on Saturday, January 10.
The Green & White then return the favor by hosting three straight home events atop of Grymes Hill. Wagner welcomes the current conference champions FDU on Thursday, January 15 for a 7:00 pm tip. The Seahawks host conference newcomer New Haven on Saturday, January 17 and Le Moyne on Thursday, January 22 before hitting the road again at LIU on Saturday, January 24. Tip-off against New Haven is scheduled for 2:00 pm while tip-off against Le Moyne is set for 7:00 pm.
Wagner heads back home for a 5:00 pm tip against CCSU on Thursday, January 29 before wrapping up the month at FDU on Saturday, January 31.
