STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Nicholas Romero has been named an FCS Freshman All-American by Stats Perform, the organization announced Wednesday afternoon.

Romero joins Chris Jean and Jack Stoll of CCSU as the only NEC players selected to a Stats Perform FCS All-American team this season.

The Pembroke Pines, Fla., native was the only freshman named to any All-NEC team in 2025 and led the conference in both field goal makes and percentage, converting 13-of-14 attempts (92.9%), which ranked second nationally in the FCS. Romero connected on five field goals of 40 yards or longer, highlighted by a season-long 44-yard kick in a victory at Saint Francis.

In addition to his All-American honor, Romero was named NEC Rookie of the Week twice and earned NEC Special Teams Player of the Week recognition once during the season. He is the first Seahawk kicker to earn First Team All-NEC honors since James Cooper in 2017 and the only freshman kicker in program history to be named to the first team.

Romero becomes the first Wagner student-athlete to earn Stats Perform All-American honors since Titus Leo was named to the third team in 2021.
