STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – The Wagner College women's basketball team travels to MAAC member Rider for a Saturday afternoon tip-off on ESPN+. The Seahawks-Broncs matchup is set to begin at 2:00 p.m. at Alumni Gymnasium.

Wagner ranks first amongst NEC squads with 19.25 forced turnovers per game.

The Seahawks rank 36th in the nation, and second in the conference, in offensive rebounds per game with 15.3.

Senior Irene Fernandez de Caleya scored in double figures in each of her last three games while grabbing at least four rebounds in each of her last four games.

The Seahawks' assistant coach Zhaneia Thybulle scored nine points on 3-5 shooting to go along with three rebounds and five assists the last time these two teams met during the 2021-22 season.

The Seahawks own a 14-9 all-time lead over the Broncs, with only three games between the two teams occurring during this century - '06, '19, and '21. The last time these two teams met, Wagner took down Rider by a score of 62-58 on December 7, 2021, thanks to a 31-17 advantage on the glass.

The Seahawks complete their three-game road trip on December 19 as Wagner travels to Rhode Island for an 11:00 a.m. matchup against the Rams. The Green & White wrap up their 2025 non-conference slate hosting NJCU on December 30 at the Spiro Sports Center at 2:00 p.m.
 

Scouting Rider

Rider comes into this Saturday's matchup with a 2-6 record, picking up wins against Lafayette and LIU. Most recently, Rider fell to Yale by a score of 53-52 on Saturday, December 6. Forward Kristina Ekofo leads the Broncs' offensive charge averaging 13.6 points and 5.9 rebounds per contest. Junior Aliya McIver adds 10.6 points and a team-high 6.1 rebounds and 3.4 assists. 

Rider leads the MAAC in defensive rebounds per game, corralling 25.9 rebounds as a team per contest.

A Seahawks' win over the Broncs would end Wagner's 10-game road losing streak. 
 

Welcome Avery Blue

Head women's basketball coach Terrell Coburn has announced the signing of guard Avery Blue last week. To begin her senior season at Madison Memorial (WI), Blue is averaging 17.5 points, 6.8 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 3.3 steals throughout four games played. Blue is the first signee of the Seahawks' 2026-27 class and will join the Green & White next season.
