Football Earns First Three-Game Win Streak Since 2014 with Road Victory at Robert Morris, 24-20

MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. — The Wagner College football team extended its NEC winning streak to three games with a 24–20 road victory over Robert Morris on Saturday afternoon at Joe Walton Stadium.

After forcing a punt on the Colonials' opening drive, sophomore quarterback Jack Stevens capped a seven-play, 50-yard drive with a nine-yard touchdown run to give Wagner (4–6, 3–2 NEC) the early lead. Robert Morris (3–7, 2–3 NEC) evened the score late in the first quarter, but graduate student Andre Hines Jr. finished a 10-play, 75-yard drive with a 10-yard rushing touchdown early in the second quarter to put Wagner back in front, 14–7.

The Colonials closed the gap to 14–10 before halftime with a field goal, but Wagner extended its lead to 17–10 midway through the third quarter on a 43-yard field goal by freshman Nicholas Romero.
Early in the third quarter, Stevens exited the game due to injury, and senior Damien Mazil checked back in at quarterback. Over the course of his career, Mazil has appeared in 16 games under center for the Seahawks before converting to wide receiver this offseason.

Following a Robert Morris touchdown that tied the game at 17–17, Mazil made an immediate impact, breaking free for a 75-yard touchdown run on the very next play from scrimmage — the longest run of the season for the Seahawks — to reclaim the lead for good.

Robert Morris added a fourth-quarter field goal to pull within four, but Wagner's defense held firm over the final minutes, forcing two turnovers on downs in the red zone, including one inside the 20-yard line in the closing seconds to seal the victory.

Wagner's rushing attack dominated once again, finishing with 320 yards on the ground and 363 yards of total offense. Hines led the way with 135 yards and a touchdown on 23 carries, while Stevens added 92 yards and one score on 15 attempts. Mazil totaled 79 yards on four carries, highlighted by his third-quarter touchdown burst.

Through the air, Stevens went 5-of-9 for 36 yards, while Mazil added a six-yard completion. Freshman Malik Redd-Hubbard and juniors Teree McDonald and Jeremiah Colclough each recorded two receptions apiece.

Defensively, junior Shamar Williams led the Seahawks with 10 tackles, while graduate student Akil Lampley added four stops. Redshirt junior Daren Omoregie tallied seven tackles and a pass breakup, and sophomore Ethan Appolon recorded a sack and a quarterback hurry.

Wagner outgained Robert Morris 320–91 on the ground and held the Colonials without a rushing touchdown. The Seahawks also won the time of possession battle, 32:36 to 27:24.

The win gives Wagner its first three-game winning streak since 2014.

With two games left on the schedule, the Green & White will play their final game on Hameline Field this season next Saturday, November 15, hosting Stonehill at 12:00 p.m. for Senior Day.
