Men’s Basketball Heads to Baltimore for UMBC Matchup

BALTIMORE, Md. — The Wagner College men's basketball team continues its 2025 non-conference schedule on Sunday, November 16, with a matchup at UMBC. Tipoff is set for 12:00 p.m. at Chesapeake Employers Insurance Arena, with coverage on ESPN+ featuring Rick Moreland and Gary Stein on the call.

Sunday's matchup marks the tenth all-time meeting between the programs, with the Retrievers holding a 6–3 advantage. Wagner won the teams' most recent meeting in 2003, earning a 75–65 victory when UMBC was still a member of the NEC.

UMBC (2–1, 0–0 America East) is coming off a 77–71 loss at Dayton on November 8. The Retrievers are led by fourth-year head coach Jim Ferry, who is no stranger to the NEC. Ferry spent 10 seasons at LIU (2002–12), winning NEC championships in 2011 and 2012 and earning NEC Coach of the Year honors in 2005 and 2011.UMBC is averaging 75.3 points per game and is shooting 39.7 percent from the field. The Retrievers return two starters from last year's team and welcome nine newcomers to the roster this season.

Wagner (0–3, 0–0 NEC) continues its seven-game road swing after falling 63–61 at Fordham on November 11. Junior Eddie Placer led the Seahawks with 20 points on 7-of-12 shooting, including 6-of-9 from beyond the arc. Junior Nick Jones added 15 points, while junior Michael Cooper contributed 11 points and five rebounds.

Following Sunday's matchup, the Green & White will travel to Washington, D.C., to face Georgetown on Saturday, November 22, at Capital One Arena for a 12:00 p.m. tip.
