Women’s Basketball Set to Matchup With NJIT on Tuesday

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. –
The Wagner College women's basketball team visits America East member NJIT for a tip-off on Tuesday, November 11 on ESPN+. The Seahawks-Highlanders matchup is set to begin at 6:00 p.m. at the Joel & Diane Bloom Wellness and Center Center in Newark, N.J.
 

Quick Points

Sophomore Keana Foz scored a career-high 15 points at Rutgers, shooting 5-11from the field and 5-7 from the free throw line. Foz was named an NEC Prime Performer this Monday for the showing. Freshman Alivia Landy scored 23 points on 9-10 from the field in the Seahawks' 88-46 win over SUNY New Paltz. Landy and Doyinsola Modesayor lead the NEC in steals with 2.5 swipes per game each.

Last season's matchup came down to the wire as Julia Fabozzi hit a game-winning layup with seconds remaining to push Wagner over NJIT. The Seahawks were picked seventh in the NEC preseason poll. The Seahawks began their regular season at Big Ten member Rutgers, falling to the Scarlet Knights by a score of 79-50 before defeating SUNYAC member New Paltz by a score of 46-88 in their home opener


Landy's Welcome

Freshman guard Alivia Landy made quite the impact in her first game at the Spiro Sports Center, shooting 9-10 from the floor en route to a 23-point showing over SUNY New Paltz on November 5.
 

Highway Robbery

The Seahawks' roster has three out of the top eight athletes with highest steals per game in the NEC. Landy and Lijirin Doyinsola Modesayor sit atop the conference with 2.5 steals per game while Maria Doreste sits in fourth with 2.0 steals per game.
 

The Series

The Seahawks lead 8-7 in the all-time series with the Highlanders. Most recently, Wagner took down NJIT at the Spiro Sports Center back on December 12, 2024, by a score of 62-60. 
 

The Road Ahead

Next up, the Green & White takes on Syracuse on November 16 at the JMA Wireless Dome. Wagner completes a three-game home stand to round out the month against Lafayette on November 20, Iona on November 24, and Cornell on November 30.
