BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — The Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference announced Tuesday that Wagner earned a pair of weekly awards — senior captain Laszlo Strasser was named Player of the Week, while freshman Landon Castillo was named Newcomer of the Week.
The two earn the nod after a trip to California for the Gary Troyer Tournament, capping off the trip with a 20-15 win over Chapman.
Strasser opened the weekend with a single goal against UC Irvine before coming alive in game two on Friday, scoring six goals against Concordia. He added three more against Cal State Fullerton on Saturday.
This is Strasser's second time being named MAWPC Player of the Week after earning the award in September of 2023 during his sophomore season.
Both Seahawks exploded in Wagner's win to end the tournament, each scoring five goals to combine for half of Wagner's points in the game. Castillo scored two goals in the opener against the Anteaters, then added a third against Cal State Fullerton. This is Castillo's first time being named MAWPC Rookie of the Week and Wagner's first time earning the award this season.
After closing out the tournament on a high note, the Seahawks will be back in the Spiro Sports Center for a matchup with George Washington at 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 11.
