Lewisburg, PA - The Wagner women's golf team opened its season at the Bucknell Invitational this weekend, finishing in ninth place. Freshman Maria Calleja paced the Seahawks in her debut event, finishing with a score of 230 (+20) through three rounds at the Bucknell Golf Club.
As a whole, Wagner finished +112, good for ninth out of 13 teams.
Calleja was sensational on day one, finishing with a 73 (+3). She followed up her Friday performance with a 75 (+5) on Saturday and a final round score of 82 (+12). Calleja finished in a tie for 18th place.
Second on the leaderboard for the Seahawks was senior Aisha Rodriguez (+30). Rodriguez tied for 38th place after shooting a 78 (+8) and 77 (+7) across the opening two rounds of competition.
Fellow seniors Ximena de la Garza (+32) and Elise Fujita (+34) followed shortly after Rodriguez, tying for 42nd and 47th place, respectively. Both veterans shot a final round 78 (+8) to move up the Sunday leaderboard.Â
Freshman Bree Council (+50) came in 66th place in her collegiate debut. Junior Emma Shelby rounded out the Seahawk golfers with an overall score of 269 (+59).
The Green & White will be back in action on September 16-17 at the Hornets Invitational.
