Staten Island, NY - Wagner College center sophomore Lijirin Doyinsola Modesayor is set to compete at the FIBA U18 AfroBasketball Championships in Pretoria, South Africa.
Modesayor and 11 other athletes will represent their home country of Nigeria during the 12 day competition that will see 12 different countries compete between Sunday, September 1 to Friday, September 13th.
During her first year on Grimes Hill, the Ongo State native appeared in 23 games, starting three. Modesayor averaged 1.0 point and 1.6 rebounds per 5.9 minutes of gametime.
Modesayor recorded a career-high six points against Saint Elizabeth on December 30 and logged a career-high five rebounds against Le Moyne on February 29.
Modesayor and the rest of the Nigerian team will play Egypt on Monday, September 2 at 12:00. Followed by a game against Zimbabwe on Thursday, September 5 at 6:30 pm, and then a matchup with Uganda on Sunday, September 8 at 9:00 pm to round out the group stage of competition.
