Wagner College Athletics Announces 2024 Hall of Fame Class

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – Wagner College Director of Athletics Brendan Fahey has announced the four inductees who will be enshrined into the Wagner College Athletics Hall of Fame as the Class of 2024: Jeremy Balina '02 (Football), Bryan Gallagher '03 (Men's Lacrosse), Andrea Lazzari Barton '09 (Softball), and Katie Hauck Perez '07 (Women's Water Polo).
 
These former Seahawk legends were selected on the merit of their athletic prowess and overall impact on Wagner's athletic department by the Wagner Athletics Hall of Fame Committee. The induction ceremony will be held on Saturday, September 21st, 2024, before the 4:00pm "Wagner Weekend" football game against Robert Morris. 
 
The Class of 2024 will be formally enshrined that afternoon beginning at 12:00 pm in the VIP Room, located on the second floor of the Spiro Sports Center, before being publicly recognized at halftime of the football game. All Wagner College Athletics Hall of Fame members are encouraged and welcome to attend the ceremony and a brief reception starting at 11am in the Hall of Fame Room. Light refreshments will be served. 
 
With the addition of these four individuals, the number of members in the Wagner Hall of Fame will grow to 202, each representing the best among the thousands of student-athletes and contributors who have dedicated themselves to enhancing the name of Wagner College. 
 
1. Jeremy Balina '04, Football
Spearheading the Wagner defense for his four years in Staten Island, Balina ranks 4th all-time in total tackles with 351, was a team captain his senior year in 2002, and was a two-time Don Hansen's All-American selection. Cumulatively, Balina's statline includes 41 games played, 351 tackles (146 solo), 8 interceptions, and 15 sacks. Of those 15 sacks, 5 came in 2001 which was tied for the team lead and ninth in the conference. In 2001 and 2002, he was named to the All-NEC second team. In 2002, he was first on the team and third in the conference in tackles with 116, 50 of which were solo tackles. In 2001, he was first on the team and fourth in the conference in tackles with 92, 41 of which were solo tackles. In 2000, he led the Northeast Conference with six passes broken up.

2. Bryan Gallagher '03, Men's Lacrosse
Gallagher was a 3-year captain during his time with the Wagner Men's Lacrosse program. He is currently 5th all-time in career goals (56), 3rd all-time in career points (102), 1st all-time in career ground balls (226), and 2nd all-time in career assists (46). He also accumulated the 3rd highest single-season point total of 40 points in 2001. He is 4th and 5th in highest ground ball total in a single season, achieving this in back-to-back seasons in 2000 (75) and 2001 (72). Additionally, he is 2nd all-time in most single-season assists during the 2001 season with 20 assists.  

3. Andrea Lazzari Barton '09, Softball
Lazzari Barton is fourth all-time in games played for the Wagner Softball program (200) and she is tied for most hits all-time (238). She is currently fifth all-time in career batting average (.374), first all-time in doubles (50), first all-time in home runs (34), second all-time in RBIs (159), and first all-time in putouts (1,124). She was the NEC Rookie of the Year in 2006 and was named to the NEC All-Tournament team for three straight seasons from 2006 - 2008. She was also a two-time NEC Player of the Year in back-to-back years in 2008 & 2009 and was named to the All-NEC First team in 2006, 2008, and 2009.

4. Katie Hauck Perez '07, Women's Water Polo
A mainstay in net for the Wagner Women's Water Polo team, Hauck Perez was a member of the MAAC 40th Anniversary team that highlighted some of the conference's all-time great student-athletes in their 18-year water polo history. She is a two-time MAAC Champion from 2005 and 2007. Her 1,050 career saves is the most in both Wagner and MAAC history. She is a two-time All-MAAC second team selection from 2003-04 and 2005-06 and an All-MAAC first team selection from 2004-05. She is 8th all-time in MAAC saves per game (10.47) and was an All-MAAC Championship team selection in 2005 and 2007.
