Staten Island, NY - The Wagner College women's lacrosse team dropped a Northeast Conference (NEC) to Stonehill, 19-13, on Saturday afternoon at Hameline Field.
The Seahawks opened the game on a 3-0 run as junior Sophia Colver scored two out of the three goals. Sophomore Emily Ryan also chipped in a goal during the run. Following the Seahawks run, the Skyhawks closed the first quarter on a 4-1 run to tie the game at four entering the second quarter.
Stonehill put a stamp on the contest in the second quarter as they outscored Wagner 7-2. Junior Kendra Hall and senior Kelsey Scheidel scored the two Wagner goals in the frame as Stonehill took an 11-6 lead into halftime.
The Green & White opened the second half on a 3-0 run on goals from three different goal scorers. Colver, Hall, and graduate student Nia Scott found the back of the net for Wagner. The run cut the Stonehill lead to 11-9.
Following the Wagner run, Stonehill closed the third quarter on a 4-1 run to take a 15-10 lead into the fourth quarter.
The Skyhawks outscored the Seahawks 4-3 to earn the victory.
Sophia Colver tallied three goals while dishing out three assists as Kendra Hall scored four goals. Graduate student Megan Greco also chipped in two goals and two assists.
Wagner will be back in action on Wednesday, April 10 when they travel to Teaneck, NJ to take on FDU at 2:00 pm.
