Brookville, NY - The Wagner College women's lacrosse team dropped a road Northeast Conference (NEC) contest at LIU, 9-6 on Wednesday.
Senior Kelsey Scheidel gave Wagner an early 1-0 just 67 seconds into the contest before LIU launched a 3-0 run. Graduate student Megan Greco stopped the run with a goal with 5:40 remaining in the first quarter. The Sharks took a 3-2 lead into the second quarter.
After LIU opened the second quarter on a 2-0 run to take a 5-2 lead, Wagner scored two consecutive goals as junior's Sophia Colver and Kendra Hall found the back of the net. The 2-0 run by Wagner cut the LIU lead to 5-4 entering the second half.
LIU outscoed Wagner 4-2 in the second half to earn a 9-6 victory. Greco and Scheidel each tallied their second goals in the second half.
Wagner will continue NEC play when they travel to Howard on Saturday at 12:00 pm.
