Staten Island, NY - The Wagner College women's lacrosse team moved to 2-0 in Northeast Conference (NEC) play with a 19-11 win over Central Connecticut State at Hameline Field on Saturday afternoon.
After the Blue Devils opened the game on a 3-0 run, the Seahawks fought back to rattle off a 4-1 run to bring the game tied at four after the first quarter.
The Green & White had four different goal scorers in the first as graduate student Megan Greco, senior Kelsey Scheidel, and juniors Ella Marino and Kendra Hall found the back of the net.
The Seahawks opened the second quarter on a 4-0 run to take an 8-4 lead. Wagner again had four different goal scorers during the run as seniors Ryan Murphy and Kelsey Scheidel found the back of the net. Along with Scheidel and Murphy, juniors Sophia Colver and Ella Marino scored during the run.
Megan Greco added her second goal of the game in the second, the Blue Devils added its fifth goal of the game to bring the game to 9-5 at halftime.
Wagner outscored Central Connecticut State 5-2 in the third quarter, Ella Marino and Megan Greco each recorded their third goal of the game in the third quarter. The Seahawks took a 14-7 advantage entering the fourth quarter.
Wagner outscored Central Connecticut State 5-4 in the fourth quarter, sophomore Mia Williams tallied a hat trick in the final 15 minutes.
Megan Greco, Ella Marino, Kendra and Mia Williams all recorded hat tricks as Marino also dished out two assists. Megan Greco led the Seahawks with four goals as Sophia Colver scored one goal and dished out four assists.
Wagner will be back in action on Saturday, March 23 when they welcome Saint Francis U to Hameline Field at 12:00 pm.
