Staten Island, NY - The Wagner College men's basketball team will take on LIU in a nationally televised contest on CBSSN on Sunday at noon.
The Home Stretch
With three games remaining in the regular season, the Seahawks are one game behind fourth place in the Northeast Conference (NEC) standings in pursuit of a home game in the NEC quarterfinals. The Seahawks, who have clinched a spot in the NEC tournament, will take on the two teams directly in front of them in Le Moyne and FDU next week, and face the team directly behind them in the standings in LIU on Sunday.

Julian Brown's 17 points, all five starters scored in double figures in Thursday night's game against CCSU.
Council Continues To Impress
Junior
Melvin Council Jr. was once again named a Northeast Conference (NEC) Prime Performer. Council hit the game-winner with two seconds remaining in overtime to lead the Seahawks to a 65-63 overtime win at Saint Francis U last week and added 11 points on Thursday night. The first-year Seahawk averaged 17.5 points last week and ranked fifth in the conference in scoring (14.8), ninth in rebounding (5.7), eighth in assists, fifth in FT% (.786) and ninth in steals (1.5) coming into this week.
The Wagner DNA
At 63.2 points per game, Wagner is 8th in the country in scoring defense while also leading the Northeast Conference (NEC).
Downtown Staten Island
Defensively, the Seahawks hold teams to 30.4% shooting from long range, good for 34th in the country.
Offensively, Wagner is 5-2 when connecting on nine or more threes per game.
Ezquerra Closing In On Milestone
Junior
Javier Ezquerra is closing in on 250 career assists. The NEC's active leader has 117 assists on the year and 233 for his career.
The Key
Sophomore
Keyontae Lewis registered his first back-to-back double-digit scoring games of the season last week and added 15 points against CCSU on Thursday. He just missed out on a double-double with 11 points and nine caroms against SHU last Saturday. Lewis is shooting an NEC-best 62.7 percent from the floor in conference games.

Wagner's 10 turnovers per game are 33rd in the country and first in the NEC. As a team Wagner's assist/turnover ratio of 1.35 leads the NEC. Individually, the Seahawks have two of the top three players in the NEC in assist/turnover ratio in junior
Javier Ezquerra (2nd / 2.25) and Council (3rd / 2.17).

The Seahawks are 5-2 in their last seven games played on weekdays compared to 0-4 in their last four games played on a weekend.
Allen Heating Up
Junior
Tahron Allen ranks second on the team with 10.1 points per game and 5.0 rebounds per game and is shooting a team-best 48.8% (21-43) from three-point range on the year. The first-year Seahawk has scored in double figures in five of Wagner's last six games.
The Season Series
Wagner has won nine out of its last 12 games against LIU, including six wins in the last seven matchups between the two teams.
In the first meeting earlier this season, Wagner erased a 26-point deficit before falling 69-67 in the NEC opener for both teams.
Scouting The Sharks
LIU enters Sunday's game with a 7-19 overall record and a 6-8 mark in NEC action. Most recently, the Sharks earned a 76-64 win over Le Moyne. LIU is 1-14 on the road this season.
