Philadelphia, PA - The Wagner College women's lacrosse team opened the 2024 season with a 15-3 loss at Drexel on Wednesday afternoon.

Drexel took control of the contest in the first quarter as they outscored Wagner 6-0. As a team, the Seahawks tallied three shots in the opening frame.

Junior Ella Marino opened the scoring for Wagner in the second quarter. After Drexel extended its lead to 7-1, junior Sophia Colver scored her first goal of the season to cut into the deficit heading into halftime. The Dragons took a 7-2 lead into the second half, Wagner generated eight first half shots with seven on target.

Drexel outscored Wagner 4-1 in the third quarter as senior Kelsey Scheidel netted her first goal of the season.

Drexel went on to earn a 15-3 victory after out-scoring Wagner 4-0 in the fourth quarter. As a team, the Seahawks had 18 shots, 12 of which were on goal, and 11 draw controls to Drexel's 10.

Junior Katie Siverson tallied a team-high six draw controls and three shots.

Wagner will be back in action on Wednesday, February 21 when they welcome Lafayette for its home opener at 6:00 pm.
