Staten Island, NY - Wagner College women's tennis picked up its first win of the spring season against Providence on Friday, February 9.
In doubles, seniors
Tara Dakic and
Gabrielle Perraudin kicked off the match with a 6-4 win over Providence before sophomore
Samantha Bentsianov and freshman
Dariana Vera secured the Seahawks' second doubles victory with a score of 6-1.
In singles, Dakic defeated Providence's Camila Barrera with a score of 6-3, 6-4. Perraudin and junior
Paula Ysabelle Uy also secured singles wins before Bentsianov won her match in three sets with a score of 6-4, 4-6, 6-2.
"I am incredibly pleased with our performance tonight," said head coach
Lena Babunski. "We Started with great doubles, and had an aggressive game where we dominated the net. We had energy and enthusiasm from the first minute to the final point, everyone was determined."
Next up the Seahawks will host Le Moyne on Sunday, February 11 at the College of Staten Island (CSI) indoor tennis courts.
