Women’s Basketball Soars Past SUNY Old Westbury, 133-34

Staten Island, NY - The Wagner women's basketball team concluded its non-conference schedule in historic fashion, defeating SUNY Old Westbury 113-34 on Monday afternoon at the Spiro Sports Center.

The Seahawks set multiple program records, including the most points scored in a single game (113), largest margin of victory (99), most field goals made (42), most assists (37), and most three-pointers made (17).

Graduate student Taleah Washington delivered a standout performance with 20 points, a program-record 22 assists, seven rebounds, and six steals, surpassing Alice Burgos' 1989 assist record of 16. Julia Fabozzi also shone, recording a career-high 38 points and 15 rebounds, with her scoring total tying her for 10th all-time in Wagner history. Redshirt-sophomore Klea Kaci added career-highs in points (21), assists (5), and steals (4).

The Seahawks dominated from the start, scoring the first 28 points of the game and leading 80-13 at halftime. Seven Wagner players scored in double figures as the team maintained control throughout, outscoring the Panthers in every quarter.

Wagner now shifts focus to its Northeast Conference (NEC) schedule, beginning with a matchup against conference newcomer Chicago State on January 2 in Chicago. Following today's game, head coach Terrell Coburn stated, "We are excited, we are ready to go… we are going to compete."

The Seahawks were predicted to finish sixth in the NEC Preseason Coaches Poll and will look to carry their momentum into conference play.
